Presentations will conclude on Thursday.  
If you did not go during your scheduled time, or you failed the presentation, you will be able to go on Thursday. There will be a 1 grade-level reduction.
ONLY STUDENTS WHO HAVE SHARED AND SUBMITTED BOTH THE ANNOTATED BIBLIOGRAPHY AND THE SLIDESHOW WILL BE PERMITTED TO GO!

Monday, March 9 or Tuesday, March 10
Learning Objective/Standard: W.11-12.2 Write informative/explanatory texts to examine and convey complex ideas. SL.11-12.6 Acquire and use accurately general academic and content specific words and phrases.
Classwork
  1. Do Now: Title today's journal, Reflecting on the Presentations.  Create three columns of at least 6 rows labelled: SuccessesStruggles, and What I learned from SMELLing others. Complete each column with at least five responses.
  2. After: Share responses with an elbow partner, and add at least one item to each list. discuss with several partners if necessary.
  3. Then: 10 minute timed writing in journal focused on: How will I apply my learning from the presentation process to the first draft of my essay? Begin writing immediately- the planning step was the Do Now/After.
  4. Next: Plan with partners and create questions for Socratic Seminar on Wednesday. Re-label question columns on the Soc Sem Packet with today's journal column headings. There will be a greater focus on the Language portion of SMELL.
  5. Time-Permitting: Journal Check #8: 23 Jan-9 Mar, at least 12 for Legendary (subject to change)

  • If you would like to take your journal home over the break, bring it to me during recess or lunch on Monday, Tuesday, or Thursday, or during Study Hall on Tuesday or Wednesday
  • Talk to potential partners for the Multimedia Lesson Project and sign-up for your title by Thursday, March 12 @ midnight (this will also be your independent reading book for the quarter)
  • Begin drafting the research essay due to be shared and submitted by Wednesday, March 25 @ midnight (consult your packet or kekaulikeseniorproject.com/juniors for help)
