  1. Do Now: Preview the entire blog post for this week. Title the next page of your INB Quarter 4, Week 5 of 10. In a format that works best for you, use the entire page to organize:
    • today's focus, short-term activities, long-term activities, due dates
    • at the bottom, copy the target practice for today
  2. After: 20 min. independent reading session
  3. Then: 15 min. Save the Last Word for ME discussion protocol with dialectical journal
  4. Next: Short introduction to EA 2: Multimedia Lesson Delivery (based on your IR or The Things They Carried by Tim O'Brien)
Target Practice: I am finished reading my IR book and am ready to begin planning my lesson. Fist-5?

  1. Do Now: 20 min. independent reading or writing session
  2. After: 15 min. Save the Last Word for ME discussion protocol with dialectical journal
  3. Then: How does this TED Talk relate to reading books? In your INB, answer these questions during/after the video:
    • What are the main ideas from the video?
    • What is the speaker's position?
    • What do you agree with? Why?
    • What would you argue with? Why?
    • What idea from the speaker inspires you to learn more or act? Why?
    • What assumptions does the speaker make?
  4. After: Four A's Discussion Protocol about the video. Instead of the listed reflection, write a response to this prompt in your INB and discuss after:
    • How does this video have to do with reading novels? 'It Doesn't' is not an option. Find a way that it could have something to do with reading and explain your reasoning.

  3. Then: Fiction vs. Nonfiction, as Tim O'Brien sees it...  While reading/listening, respond to the following prompts in your INB:
    • What is O'Brien's position?
    • What do you agree with? Why?
    • What would you argue with? Why?
    • What assumptions does O'Brien make?
    • What would you want to learn more or do something about? Why?
