Classwork
  1. Do Now: Complete the printer link activity in Google Classroom. After printing, make sure to use the 3 Read method to annotate. MAKE SURE TO WRITE THE DATE ON EACH PAGE OF THE INB.
  2. After: Complete the Independent Learning Choice activity in Google Classroom. Make any notes on the LEFT page of today's entry. Once you have settled on a choice, write that VERY LARGE on the RIGHT page of today's entry.
    • Then: Write the following word and definition on the RIGHT page of today's INB entry. in the time provided, freewrite on the LEFT page about what you think it means.
      • Existentialism: a philosophical theory that emphasizes the existence of the individual person as a free and responsible agent determining their own development through acts of the will.
    • Next: Read the Psychology Today article. Draft your personal motto...Why is it important? 
    Target Practice: I can write my personal motto and explain why it is important for me to live by it. Fist-5?
    Homework
    • Write several ideas for a personal motto on the LEFT page of your INB. Re-read the article or think about other mottos that you might like to have for yourself.
    • When you decide on a Personal Motto, write it on the RIGHT page of today's entry.
    • Continue Independent Learning at your own pace.
    Wednesday, August 15 or Thursday, August 16
    Due Today: Personal Motto, begin Independent Learning

SL.11-12.4 Present information, findings, and supporting evidence, conveying a clear and distinct perspective, such that listeners can follow the line of reasoning.
    Classwork
    1. Do Now: On the next LEFT page of your INB, list the sentence, phrase, and word that you remember most from the Psychology Today article. Remember to write the date on each page of the INB used today. IF YOU DECIDED ON A MOTTO for yourself, have that ready, too.
    2. After: Text Rendering Discussion Protocol about Psychology Today article
    3. Then: Personalize Springboard Workbook and Unpack Embedded Assessment 1 in Unit 4 on WB p. 306 (writer's checklist on WB p. 365)
    4. Next: Discuss syllabus questions (Time-Permitting)
    Target Practice:  I understand why my personal motto is important to me and can use it to begin drafting my personal narrative. Fist-5?
    Homework
    • Come to class on Monday/Tuesday with several stories from your life that either changed your thinking about someone or something, or that you feel made you the person you are today. You will need these stories to begin writing EA 1. Feel free to brainstorm ideas on the LEFT page of your INB.
