  1. Do Now: Preview the entire blog post for this week. If you have questions about homework or classwork, ask. Notes in your INB are recommended, but not required.
  2. After: Use Opposing Viewpoints, EBSCO, Video on Demand, or Google Scholar to learn more about your topic and add more source entries to your annotated bibliography
    • Interview: if you need to step outside to conduct your interview, make a call to schedule your interview, or would like me to read an email going to a potential interviewee just let me know before you do it!
  3. During: Individual checks for progress on the annotated bibliography
  4. Next: Quizlet Live! for annotated bibliography information
Target Practice: I know enough about my topic to begin an outline for my argumentative research paper. Fist-5?
Homework
  • Add at least one more source to the Annotated Bibliography using a search engine from the KKHS Library. At this point, you should have at least ten sources listed on your annotated bibliography.
  • Conduct your interview AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. The entire annotated bibliography, which includes an interview, is due on FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 1 by midnight.
  • Continue your Independent Learning Project. IF YOU DID NOT CHOOSE BY 1/11, YOU WERE ASSIGNED KHAN ACADEMY. CHECK IC IF YOU'RE NOT SURE.

    • Consider your topic. What are three features or details about your topic that you could write about? describe them in AT LEAST one paragraph.
  2. After: Begin the outlining process using page 14 of this document
  3. During: Individual checks for progress on the annotated bibliography
  4. After: Create INB Check #6 on your INB Checklist: at least 8 entries through today
    • If you do not know how to do this at this point in the year, please ask a neighbor. You need to get a classmate's initials anyway.

Homework
  • Create INB Check #6 for assessment by me during the next class. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A CLASSMATE'S INITIALS VERIFYING THE CORRECTNESS OF YOUR COUNT.

  1. Do Now: Finish the outlining process using page 14 of this document
    • The document goes on one page of your INB and your matching written outline goes on the opposite page
  2. After: Use the rubric on page 21 of this document to self-assess your annotated bibliography
    • It would be a good idea to have someone else do this for you as well.
    During: INB Check #6
  3. Then: Your choice:
      • Continue working on the annotated bibliography to meet whatever level of proficiency you want
        • OR
      • Refine your outline to be the best it can be. We will begin using it to draft your essay next class
  4. Next: 10 minute timed-write: Use the Creating and Refining a Thesis Statement worksheet on pages 12 and 13 of this document to draft your thesis statement.
Target Practice: I am confident that my annotated bibliography is completed to proficient level or better, and that I can begin drafting my research paper. Fist-5?
Homework
  • Complete the annotated bibliography by Friday @ midnight. This includes at least 10 COMPLETE source entries, one of which is an interview that you conducted.
  • The outline is due by classtime on Monday (Periods 3 and 4) or Tuesday (Period 7)
  • Continue working on Independent Learning at your own pace
