  1. Do Now: Preview the entire blog post for this week. Title the next page of your INB Quarter 1, Week 9 of 9. In a format that works best for you, use the entire page to organize:
      • today's focus, short-term activities, long-term activities, due dates
  2. After: Review Proficient Student Sample essay (also on Google Classroom)
    • Then: Pair revision of essay using this checklist
    • Next: Revise EA 2 using Annotated Bibliography and ideas gleaned from the student sample

    2. After: In your INB, freewrite about the following idea: What is the difference between an immigrant's perspective on opportunity in the United States, and your own- as a citizen?
    3. Then: Read Growing Up Asian in America on WB p. 37-39 and annotate

    Learning Target: W.11-12.1.C Use words, phrases, and clauses as well as varied syntax to link the major sections. W.11-12.1.E Provide a concluding statement or section that follows from and supports the argument. W.11-12.4 Produce clear and coherent writing in which the development, organization, and style are appropriate to task, purpose, and audience. L.11-12.3.A Vary syntax for effect, consulting references.
    Classwork
    1. Do Now: Choose IR for Quarter 2 (Google Classroom)
    2. After: Make sure Annotated Bibliography is complete:
        • Planning Guide?
        • Blue boxes?
        • Green boxes?
        • Yellow boxes? (...those shooting for exemplary)
    3. Then: Work with a partner or group of no more than three to check for the following:
        • The essay should have appropriate paragraphs and syntax: Did you use all of those sentence-types we looked at? Try. Are there multiple paragraphs? Did you write YOUR OWN topic, conclusion, and transition sentences?
        • Try to improve evidence usage by using a variety of sources: interviews, films, current news- not just websites that tell you what you want to hear or, worse, what you don't understand.
        • Provide a concluding statement- also known as a 'call to action.' Inspire your reader to learn more, ask questions, or drive home an earlier point with an inspiring quote.
