- Do Now: Junior Vocabulary Unit 14, Quiz A
- After: Timed-writing activity (25 minutes). Prompt: Use the writing process to write an informational essay that explains what you know about your chosen novel, its author, and any other information you may know. Remember to allow time to: plan your essay, write your essay, as well as revise and edit the final draft.
- Then: Students self-score with the rubric
- Next: Check reading strategy packet (1 page completed by today)

- Do Now: Copy the learning objective and target practice in your journal. Then, read the learning objective closely. Did you do this in your paper? What words do you not understand? Respond to these questions honestly using complete sentences in your journal.
- After: (Research Paper mini-lesson) Using sources in your paper and documenting properly.
- Then: (Lesson Plan Activity) Break into groups by book title and informally discuss experiences so far
- Next: (Lesson Plan Activity) Use computers to create a brainstorming document to share among group-members, then brainstorm activity ideas to introduce your book to the class.

- Do Now: Copy the learning objective and target practice in your journal. Carefully read the WRITING LEARNING OBJECTIVE ONLY, and respond in complete sentences about if and how you did this in your paper. If not, how will you fix it?
- After: (Research Paper mini-lesson) Topic and transition sentences in body paragraphs (student sample- B paper, difference between paragraphs 2 & 3)
- Then: (Lesson Plan Activity) Continue brainstorming ideas as a group (search the internet for lesson plan ideas for your book)
