  1. Do Now: Vocabulary Unit 13, Quiz A
  2. After: Complete In-class writing activity. Prompt: Based on your understanding of your topic, write a short essay that addresses your claim, counterclaim, and refute.
  3. Then: Self-score the essay with this rubric
  4. Next: Review goals and expectations for the week

  • If you have NOT shared and submitted Draft 2 of the research paper, do so AS SOON AS POSSIBLE! If you have not, you will not be given personal meeting time during class (by appointment only, once it has been done).
  • Begin reading novel for in-class lesson plan activity (group signup will occur shortly- see the lesson plan by clicking the link at the top of the page)
  • Enrichment: Complete independent reading by May 2!

Learning Objective: W.11-12.5 Develop and strengthen writing as needed by planning, revising, editing and rewriting to address purpose and audience.
  1. Do Now: Copy the learning objective and target practice in your journal.  After, read the Draft 2 Editing Checklist on p.18 in your packet.  Copy and answer the following question in your journal: Of the items on the checklist, which one will be the most challenging for you when editing someone else's paper?
  2. After: Share Draft 2 in Google Drive with another student in class (give the other person your packet/checklist)
  3. Then: Individual student-teacher meetings about Draft 2
  4. During: Complete Draft 2 Editing Checklist. Then, create Final Draft in your Google Drive using 'file', 'make a copy', and begin to make final revisions.
Target Practice: I can strengthen my writing by editing another person's essay to better-understand mistakes in my own. +/0/-

  1. Continue working on Final Draft of the research paper- DUE APRIL 17 BY MIDNIGHT for the chance to revise (APRIL 25 IS THE ABSOLUTE LAST DAY IT WILL BE ACCEPTED)
