Classwork
- Do Now: Staple Quarter 3, Week 3 of 11 onto the next LEFT PAGE of your notebook. Read and annotate the document.
- After: Title the RIGHT PAGE Definition Essay Writing Practice. Using your outline from last class, respond to the following prompt in a 15 minute timed-writing exercise:
- In one or more paragraphs, define the concept you have chosen to research. Make sure to include the four ways of defining (exemplification, classification, function, and negation). Show evidence of planning BEFORE writing the essay, evidence of research IN the essay, and evidence of revision AFTER writing the essay.
- Then: Read Success- The Myth and evaluate using the rubric in your notebook
- Next: Answer the Planning and Prewriting, as well as the Drafting prompts on WB p. 51

- Begin drafting the definition essay (you MUST have finished the outline and either a Works Cited page OR Annotated Bibliography

- Do Now: (30 minute timed-writing session) Attach your essay planning document AND your outline to the LEFT PAGE. Title the RIGHT PAGE Definition Essay Drafting.
- In a multi-paragraph essay, define the concept you have chosen to research. Make sure to include the four ways of defining (exemplification, classification, function, and negation). Show evidence of planning BEFORE writing the essay, evidence of research IN the essay, and evidence of revision AFTER writing the essay.
- After: John Grisham reads Judge Noah Sweat's speech (Who is John Grisham?)
- Then: Can we see the four ways of defining in this speech?
- Next: Finish typing the essay and submit through the link at the top of this blog
