W.11-12.5 Develop and strengthen writing as needed by planning, revising, editing, rewriting, or trying a new approach, focusing on addressing what is most significant for a specific purpose and audience.
Classwork
- Do Now: Title the RIGHT PAGE Planning for the Research Paper. Write today's date at the top-right. Copy the target practice below the title. Fold the page in half, then in half again.
- After: While watching this video, use the columns to write the four questions that need to be considered when choosing a topic to write about.
- Then: Draw a line across the middle of the page. Directly under it, use the columns to write four ideas that you MIGHT want to research. Try to answer the four questions for each topic.
- Next: Staple the Question Planning Template to the next RIGHT PAGE and begin developing questions for opening, core, and closing columns
Homework
- Complete at least four opening, four core, and four closing questions for Friday's Socratic Seminar Session. Click here if you need ideas for arguable research topics.
