  1. Do Now: Preview the entire blog post for this week. If you have questions about homework or classwork, ask. Notes in your INB are recommended, but not required.
    • After: Look at a sample student persuasive speech (proficient)
    • Then: Begin/Continue typing a draft of your EA 2: Persuasive Speech in Google Classroom
    • During: Individual student-teacher meetings (5 minute max./student)

    Homework
    • Submit a draft of your EA 2: Persuasive Speech on Google Classroom by midnight on Monday.

    1. Do Now: Number the lines of your speech. Then, analyze it for the following:
      • power words: list no more than 10
      • repetition: list the line #s where you used repetition of words, sounds, or structures
      • evidence: list the line numbers where you use evidence
    2. After: Trade speeches with someone else and repeat the analysis you did above.
    3. Then: use this speech response sheet to give feedback to your partner
    4. During: Individual student-teacher meetings (5 minute max./student)
    Target Practice: I can use the feedback from class to revise my speech for repetition, power words, and evidence. Fist-5?

    • Independent Learning must be done by Friday.

    Classwork
    1. Do Now: Form groups of 3 or 4. Here's what you will be doing:
      • Speaker- One person at a time performs their speech. Attach the speech response sheets into your INB for review at the end.
      • Evaluators- Listeners will complete the speech response sheet and give to each speaker after they finish
      • Discussion- after everyone has spoken and received speech response sheets, the group will discuss strengths of the group, as well as struggles. Notes should appear in your INB based on this discussion.
    2. During: INB Check #5 and Individual student-teacher meetings (5 minute max./student)
    3. Then: "Perfect" speech from Friday Night Lights
    4. During: individual meetings with teacher to improve the speech
    Target Practice: I can improve the draft of my speech using my understanding of ethos, pathos, logos, emotion words, and active verbs. Fist-5?
