Classwork
- Do Now: Staple 'Quarter 1, Week 4 of 10' on the next LEFT-SIDE page. Read and annotate dates/activities that you feel are important. Then, title the RIGHT-SIDE page Interpreting Transcendentalist Thought Today.
- After: Fold your RIGHT SIDE page in half. Title the left column with Emerson's quote and the right with Marley's quote:
- “...nothing is at last sacred but the integrity of your own mind.” (Self-Reliance. Ralph Waldo Emerson. 1840)
- “free yourself from mental slavery, none but ourselves can free our minds.” (Redemption Song. Uprising. Bob Marley. 1980)
- Then: While watching this video about Transcendentalism in popular media think about how they can be applied to your life and write your ideas in the columns.
- Next: Finish Socratic Seminar (1st round about today's quotes/ 2nd round about drafting the personal essay)

Homework
- Create EA 1: Personal Essay on your School Google Drive (see the blue rubric provided earlier for heading information). Arrive to class on Thursday with at least three significant life-experiences to write about.
- Complete a cover for your Notebook (Assigned Monday, August 3)
- Complete the Student Survey at the top of this blog
- Continue Independent Reading- IR Packet p. 2 due by Thursday @ 2:15

Learning Target: W.11-12.3 Write narratives to develop real or imagined experiences. W.11-12.5 Develop and strengthen writing as needed by planning, revising, editing, and rewriting.
Classwork
- Do Now: Using a pencil, draw the graphic from Workbook p. 287 on the LEFT SIDE page of your Notebook. Make the bubble at each point as large as possible on the page. Title the RIGHT SIDE page Drafting the Personal Essay. Write today's date at the top-right of the page.
- After: TR(3-5 minutes) Use the graphic organizer on the LEFT PAGE to plan your essay.
- Then: TR(12-15 minutes) Write a draft of your Personal Essay
- Next: TR (2-5 minutes) Revise the draft to clarify your ideas
Homework
- Complete a draft of EA 1: Personal Narrative- must be shared with me and submitted through this blog before next class meeting on MONDAY
- Continue Independent Reading- IR Packet p. 2 due TODAY by @ 2:15
