- Do Now: Find assigned seats and read packet section for Period 2 or 3
- After: Welcome and introductions

- Learning Objective: SL 11-12.4, PRESENT INFORMATION, FINDINGS, AND SUPPORTING EVIDENCE, CONVEYING A CLEAR AND DISTINCT PERSPECTIVE, SUCH THAT LISTENERS CAN FOLLOW THE LINE OF REASONING, ALTERNATIVE OR OPPOSING PERSPECTIVES ARE ADDRESSED, AND THE ORGANIZATION DEVELOPMENT, SUBSTANCE, AND STYLE ARE APPROPRIATE TO PURPOSE, AUDIENCE, AND A RANGE OF FORMAL AND INFORMAL TASKS.
- Do Now: In your journal, describe yourself with five adjectives. Skip a line. Then, write down how these characteristics can help you be successful in school this year. Describe the characteristics if necessary. Your response should be at least one paragraph, but no longer than a page.
- After: Share your response with someone near you.
- Next: Based on what information you and your partner shared, develop three questions that could have been asked to get this information. Example info: I traveled to Alaska this summer. I love the snow. Example Question: When you go off-island, where would like to go?
- Then: We will share the questions as a large group and develop a list of ten. Write these in your journal.
- Looking ahead: After the quiz next week on Monday/Tuesday, you will introduce your partner to the class by answering these 10 questions about them in short pair-presentation (1 minute min., 2 min. max.).
- Target Practice: In your journal, write down what characteristics from other presentations apply to you and that you may not have considered. Describe how you might be able to cultivate these characteristics for greater academic success.
- Begin studying for Vocabulary Unit 1, Quiz A
- Return any signed forms to teachers ASAP!

- Enrichment: Remind your parents that next Thursday, August 15 @ 6:00 pm is Open House. If they attend and complete the required information, you will receive enrichment credit. If your parents are unable to attend, you may still receive the credit if they complete the form located on this site. It will be available via the internet on Thursday, August 15.
