The ultimate goal is to complete a second draft of your research paper; so, what you write for today should be a step that needs to be taken in order for you to reach that ultimate goal.

Quarter 3, Week 9 of 9

Presentations will conclude on Thursday.  
If you did not go during your scheduled time, or you failed the presentation, you will be able to go on Thursday. There will be a 1 grade-level reduction.
ONLY STUDENTS WHO HAVE SHARED AND SUBMITTED BOTH THE ANNOTATED BIBLIOGRAPHY AND THE SLIDESHOW WILL BE PERMITTED TO GO!

Learning Objective/Standard: W.11-12.2 Write informative/explanatory texts to examine and convey complex ideas. SL.11-12.6 Acquire and use accurately general academic and content specific words and phrases.
Classwork
  1. Do Now: Title today's journal, Reflecting on the Presentations.  Create three columns of at least 6 rows labelled: Successes, Struggles, and What I learned from SMELLing others. Complete each column with at least five responses.
  2. After: Share responses with an elbow partner, and add at least one item to each list. discuss with several partners if necessary.
  3. Then: 10 minute timed writing in journal focused on: How will I apply my learning from the presentation process to the first draft of my essay? Begin writing immediately- the planning step was the Do Now/After.
  4. Next: Plan with partners and create questions for Socratic Seminar on Wednesday. Re-label question columns on the Soc Sem Packet with today's journal column headings. There will be a greater focus on the Language portion of SMELL.
