  1. Do Now: Report to the Library
  2. After: Follow your proctor's instructions for the testing environment. Make sure your phone is OFF AND IN YOUR BAG.
  3. Then: Perform admirably on the Smarter Balanced Assessment: CAT
  4. Next: Review your answers before ending the test.
      • If you do not finish during the first testing block, pause the test and let your proctor know that you need to return to finish.

Homework
  • Look at Independent Reading for Quarter 4 on Google Classroom. This will be part of a collaborative Embedded Assessment 2 that you will be doing later in the quarter. So, ask your classmates which books they will be reading from the list, too!

Classwork
  1. Do Now: Go to Google Classroom and look at the book selections. If you see one that you like, great! Sign-up for it after doing a little bit of research online, talking to friends, and conferring with the teacher.
  2. After: Discuss the Independent Reading Log and attach pages in the INB. Each log entry page should be attached to its own separate page in the INB.
  3. Then: Introduce Tim O'Brien's The Things They Carried
      • We will be reading this book together in class throughout the next several weeks
      • Create foldable note-taking guide to go along with the reading. Make sure your name, class, and period # are on it somewhere small. The four sections will be labelled:
        1. Things
        2. Characters/Descriptions
        3. Images
        4. What the Firetruck?
  4. Next:  Begin reading Chapter 1 of The Things They Carried.
      • List 'things' they carried on foldable
      • List names of characters (leave space for visual/written description)
